Possibly more than any other musician, Keith Richards is considered the embodiment of rock ‘n’ roll. He’s an infamous wild man consuming more drugs and wild times than probably anyone in his 50 years, he’s the lead guitarist of one of if not the greatest rock bands in history playing as many shows as anyone, and somehow through it all, he’s still in one piece. Even if he appears like an old drunk Jack Sparrow.

Yes, this is the same exact list we posted last year, but we were happy enough with it that we would like to remind everyone of our greatness.  Don’t worry though, look for a completely fresh fall-themed list this afternoon, but for now LxL would like to share what albums put us in that apple cider, leaves off trees, pumpkin picking/carving/eating, and brisk fresh air type of mood.

Apocalypse NOW: The 10 Best Apocalyptic Tracks

Editors note: This originally published in 2013. With the release of the new Walking Dead spin-off series Fear the Walking Dead, we revisit one of our favorite lists, our ten favorite apocalyptic tunes.

We all love us some Edgar Wright (and Simon Pegg and Nick Frost for that matter), so with the opening of The World’s End this weekend, we thought it appropriate to dig up the top ten apocalyptic songs.  A few words about The World’s End first though.  I am endlessly excited to see this movie, but it just has the worst title ever.  The title is not bad in and of itself.  It is descriptive.  It is succinct.  But unfortunately it is too similar to another apocalyptic comedy from earlier this summer (This Is The End) as well as a Pirates of the Caribbean poopcicle (At World’s End).  This obviously won’t effect the quality of the movie, but its a pet peeve of mine from a differentiation standpoint.

Now that all that is out of the way, enjoy these top ten tracks for the end of times.

With great TV theme songs coming out left in right like Patrick Carney’s Bojack Horseman theme, the auto-tuned Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt masterpiece or True Detective Season 2’s use of Leonard Cohen’s “Nevermind”, it’s really a golden era for TV theme songs.

It’s Fall, and Fall is somewhat synonymous with television. New series are starting up for the first time, old beloved series are picking right back up where they left off, and some series that have over-stayed their welcome are still sticking around to push us even further over the edge. In any case, every show has a theme song, and here are some of our all time faves:

Editor’s Note: This list originally published in 2013, but with the new Avengers movie releasing tomorrow, it seemed like a great time to revisit the list.

In a concerted effort to make it seem we do not take ourselves too seriously, perhaps out of a fear of taking ourselves too seriously sometimes, we like to mix up our more scholarly lists with those that make us out to be a handful of nerdy jackasses.  This is one of those lists.  There has been a lot of hysteria surrounding superhero movies this summer.  I mean, damn, a Batman, Spiderman, and Avengers movies all in the same summer.  We are all extremely partial to Batman, especially those of the Nolan/Burton persuasion, and decided to save this dopey collection for around the time The Dark Knight Rises was released.  As comic-book/superhero movie fans,  we thought we could fantasize a little bit about which musicians would make the best superheroes, and speculate a little bit about their key attributes.  For awhile there, we considered doing a joint heroes/villains list, but ultimately decided to make two separate lists, with the heroes list today, and the villains list coming at you next Thursday.  Enjoy.
