El-P and Killer Mike have been keeping themselves busy the past few years, that is for certain. Aside from each releasing monster solo albums individually, as well as some mix tapes, they also teamed up last year to form a supergroup duo like no other known as Run The Jewels. If you missed that album last year, I am sorry, but luckily there is this thing called the internet that can assist you in still finding a way to get your hands on it. And be sure that you do get a hold of RTJ1 ASAP just so that you can enjoy this year’s follow up, RTJ2 all the more when it gets released October 28, 2014. Last week the duo announced the new album’s release date as they dropped their killer new track like a bomb on the world of rap, “Blockbuster Night Pt. 1”, which you can and should listen to below.

If there is one thing that we really beat into the ground here at LxL, it is our unabashed love for Jack White and all that he does. That being said, here I am to praise another bit of Jack’s art. J. W. the III’s new album Lazaretto is due out next Tuesday (6/10), but the title track “Lazaretto” has been out for a few weeks. Yesterday, The Black Keys released their second track from their upcoming album, Turn Blue. Which being the title track from the new album is also titled “Turn Blue”. “Fever”, the first track released from the upcoming album, seemed to fall a bit short of expectations due to its unimaginative lyrics and a bland music style that feels fairly old hat at this point. Where as “True Blue” slows things down to spin an eerie, slower groove from the Keys, that satisfies in almost every way. Check it out here:

If you have yet to hear, Jack White really wet some whistles yesterday by randomly dropping a brand new track titled “High Ball Stepper”. Although it is apparently not the official lead single from his forthcoming album, the track is indeed going to be an actual product of Jack’s newest and bluest baby, Lazaretto. Music lovers were shocked, intrigued, and heavily satisfied all at once by this beast of an instrumental track.

We heard a small snippet of Beck’s newest single “Blue Moon” in his album preview video in which they cut the first vinyl of Beck’s upcoming album, Morning Phase. It was just a short minute and a half snippet of the song, but it immediately resonated as an instant Beck classic. Now Beck has released the full version of the song, and the initial love for the track that was seeded in our hearts with the preview has only grown.

The irony in the title of course is that the song “Brand New” by Rhymefest ft. Kanye West is now almost five years old. Nonetheless, here are some of my favorite actual new tracks for your weekend that have all been getting some heavy play time in my headphones lately:
