Top Ten Thursday: Dynamic Duos

PB & J

The week of Valentine’s Day, we did a breakup songs list and nothing else relating to love. This week, we have given off a couples barrage with reviews of Sleigh Bells and Tennis, two duos, and now this list. While most bands are five, the Beatles were the Fab Four, and three is a magic number, two can no doubt still kill it in rock & roll. Here is our top ten musical duos.

The 11th Bonnaroo Music Festival is set to take place in no man’s land Tennessee (Manchester, to be exact) from June 7th-10th, and is locked and loaded in terms of the lineup. The lineup was revealed yesterday, and here are our initial thoughts.

Top Ten Thursday: Most Anticipated Albums of 2012

To continue this positive outlook on what music we have to look forward to in the upcoming 2012 music season, we have decided to dedicate this week’s list to what bands/artists we are most looking forward to hearing from this year. Overall this was a fairly easy list to come up with for the three of us. In fact, had it not been for one pro-longed scurfuffle about a producer that is no longer even relevant, I’d say this was our easiest list to come by yet …

10. Outkast

We at LxL have been too hurt by the false promises about the forthcoming Outkast album, that we feel like we need to keep it at arms length. If it were a guarantee release for this year, it would surely be our #1. However, we have been too let down by Andre before. So this time, we are excited, but not excited enough to ruin our year if it doesn’t happen.

Weak List Wednesday: Top 5 TV Shows of 2011

I think I like my programs a little more than Wes and Todd, so it is fitting that I should write this up. It was a pretty good year in television overall, but there were some disappointments. True Blood followed 10 different storylines at the same time and couldn’t keep it all together. Dexter fell apart in the second half. Walking Dead trashed an opportunity with a lackluster second season. And Californication started to jump off the rails in a really bad way. But all in all, I can’t complain. Here ya go.

Top Ten Thursday: So You Think You Can Act

Marky Mark, Wahlberg, Dancing

Even though Donald Glover is actually an actor turned musician, we at LxL decided to put together a list of the Top Ten Musicians Turned Actors.  This is clearly incongruous with Glover’s career path, but being the definition of iconoclastic, we do whatever we damn well please.  As always, feel free to comment with concurrences, dissents, and passionate arguments of why you think your favorite musician turned actor should have made the list.  Enjoy.

Das Racist Review: Relax

Das Rascist

Relax

Are you at the Pizza Hut?  Are you at the Taco Bell? Or perhaps, the combination Pizza Hut and Taco Bell? Can white people go outside without getting a disease? Have Glenn Beck, LL Cool J, or Toby Keith“ sat down yet” … man? These are all questions the Brooklyn-based rap duo (trio when you include the hype man) Das Racist has addressed and answered for us in the past. I can’t express to just how much I have appreciated these issues being resolved.
