While doing some light reading out of his wife’s diet magazines one evening, Wes discovered a brilliant scheme for us to rip off for a new LxL segment. Thus, today I am bringing you LxL’s first of many, “This NOT That” write-ups. Basically, we take a quick look at what is topping the charts and offer alternatives that we believe are healthier, more choice options for our readers to be listening too. Our goal is to trash a bit on the modern rubbish that is currently out-performing a few of the lesser-known, yet better options. While surely this isn’t the 90’s, when Lilith Fair ruled the pop airwaves, there is still a fair share of females singer/songwriters vying for your attention in 2012, with Adele sweeping the Grammys and other artists from the mainstream (Kelly Clarkson, Colbie Caillat) and indie world (Feist, Regina Spektor) still grabbing tons of radio time.

LxListening: All Hail the Queen

With the explosion of the internet, it is somehow hard to believe that I don’t hear much of the good music that originates in ye ole’ England.  Even some pretty big pop acts still have to be sought out, due to an absurd lack of exposure in the states.  This week, I’ve decided to share a couple of acts from our cousins across the pond that are particularly striking my fancy right now.
