Top Ten Thursday: Conception

With the great disappointment of Mylo Xyloto (Coldplays new concept album that dropped earlier this week) still being fresh in our heads, we at LxL wanted to remind the world that there are indeed good concept albums out there. Apologies to Austin, who got particularly screwed in this weeks voting, but nonetheless, here is what we came up with:

Top Ten Thursday: Double Your Pleasure, Double Your Fun

In the theme of Wes’ M83 review (which is itself a double LP), we decided to list the Top Ten double LP’s this week. You may notice the lack of modern albums on this list; and well, we just had to mostly cater to the classics for once. I must say that choosing this list contained much spirited debate, particularly on who ended up number one. The decision for number one consisted of 3 distinct choices, and then much lobbying and back-stabbing, until the final decision was reached. Todd was particularly awful, and if Eagle Eye Cherry had a double album, he would assuredly have gotten “eagle-eyed” again like last week. On to the list.

Top Ten Thursday: Artists from the Norse Country

Top Ten Thursday: Wedding Reception Favoritas

So, I have been traveling the past three weekends to various weddings in St. Louis and Omaha, and thought that after all the weddings I have been to this season, that we could do a list of top wedding songs. Now, you may question lack of slow songs on this list. That is because weddings are for party-dance, and if you are not the one getting married, emotions should be left in the dust.

Top Ten Thursday: Television Theme Songs for the Ages

It’s Fall, and Fall is somewhat synonymous with television. New series are starting up for the first time, old beloved series are picking right back up where they left off, and some series that have over-stayed their welcome are still sticking around to push us even further over the edge. In any case, every show has a theme song, and here are some of our all time faves:

Top Ten Thursday: Indubitably Great Debuts

In accordance with our debut this week, we thought it would be appropriate if we gave LxL’s Top Ten Debuts of all time.

1. Led Zeppelin- Led Zeppelin

Loud, rebellious and unbelievably bluesy; this is what rock n’ roll is supposed to sound like. It’s funny to think that in ’69 when this was released, that the critics ripped it apart. Shows how much they know.
