Album Previews: Black Keys and Sylvan Esso

The-Black-Keys-Turn-Blue album cover

Two of my most anticipated albums of the year were both released for streaming this week on various sources of the inter-webs. First being The Black Keys’ follow up to the 2011 El Camino, the very psychedelic looking Turn Blue.

The Black Keys have released two tracks from the forthcoming album so far. The first the over-amped, lyrically boring and somewhat repetitive “Fever”. The second song, and title track from the album “Turn Blue”, showed us that more chill, melodramatic side of the Keys. But now, one week before the actual release of the album, you can stream it for free via iTunes here!

Sylvan Esso is a recent result in Amelia Meath (member of Mountain Man) and Nick Sanborn (Megafaun) both finding each other while each focusing on solo work. Their respective solo projects spun into a collaboration, and the result is one of my favorite new tracks of the year, “Coffee”. Their self titled debut album followed and is set to release next week as well. Thanks to NPR Music, you can stream the album in it’s entirety here.

Check back for full reviews on both albums soon!
